Budo - #1 Australian Shepherd in CKC Agility in Canada in 2014 & 2015!

Budo is the first performance dog to reside at Bonnily. We purchased him from an on-line classified ad at the tender age of 11 weeks. He was just a wee tadpole! Little did we know, that would be a forever life-changing moment!

Bu has a wonderful, perpetual puppy attitude. He is a bit of an imp; a real joker at times. He keeps things lite and airy around here. He excels at Agility and is a fiend for Trick Training (some of his tricks are quite impressive too; like opening the fridge and turning out the lights). Following his Agility career, we plan on competing in Rally-O and Obedience and perhaps we'll test him as a Therapy Dog too. While he is not a marshmallow and is more than capable of protecting his property, he does love a good butt scratch and will easily wiggle his way into anyone's heart!
To date, Budo has earned sixteen titles, a championship, and is currently ranked the #1 Aussie and #8 Herding Dog in CKC agility! He was herding instinct certified (HIC) as an adolescent pup and he earned his Canine Good Neighbor (CGN) certificate at 18 months. In our opinion, CGN, or the equivalent, is the most important title a dog can earn and we expect all our Shepherds to achieve this certification. The CGN test is not about parlor tricks, calculus, or quantum physics; it's about basic doggie manners, and we think basic doggie manners are important for all dogs! Following his basic training, Budo enrolled in a few Agility classes and really seemed to find his niche. To date, he's earned his AAC Agility Dog of Canada (ADC), AAC Advanced Agility Dog of Canada (AADC), AAC Starters Games Dog of Canada (SGDC), CKC Agility Novice (AG.N.), CKC Agility Novice Jumper (AG.N.J.), CKC Agility Intermediate (AG.I), CKC Agility Intermediate Jumpers (AG.I.J), CKC Agility Excellent (AG.X), CKC Agility Excellent Jumpers (AG.X.J.S.), CKC Agility Master Excellent Jumpers (AG.M.X.J.S), and CKC Agility Master Excellent (AG.M.X.V). In 2016, Budo added Rally Obedience to his skill set, earning his CKC Rally Novice (RN), and has one leg towards his CKC Companion Dog (CD) title. In typical Budo fashion, he is quite the show boat in the Agility ring. Spectators have commented that he seems to levitate over the jumps and photos reveal that he carries a quirky smirk on his face and twinkle in his eye when he's working. We absolutely adore this dog's "Can Do" attitude <3
UPDATE: Budo has added Barn Hunt and Scent Detection to his long list of skills. He passed his Barn Hunt instinct test with ease, finding the rat in only 11 seconds! What a guy!​
